After a great week of preparation, the boys were raring to go on Saturday morning.
Within the first 10 minutes, both teams had opportunities to take an early lead. It was unlike the previous two encounters during the season.
Each teams playing style allowed the other to play quality football. The game opened up at the 20-minute mark when Murwillumbah were awarded a penalty and capitalised to take a 1-0 lead into half time. The second half began with us creating multiple chances to equal it up within the first 10 minutes. Yet a brave and determined Murbah defensive structure repelled attack upon attack. Murbah then hit on the counterattack to raise the lead to 2-0. Still, the boys did not panic, with 15 minutes remaining a penalty was awarded to palmy. An unfortunate miss wide of the post saw heads drop for a moment. Moments later a header in the box from a curling free kick just landed wide of the post. The remaining 10 minutes was an all-out attack from palmy, but the Murwillumbah defense sat deep and held palm beach out to take a 2-0 win

U14 Division 1 Girls
My assistant coach Daz and myself took on the under 14 girls division 1, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts on and off the pitch this season.
We battled hard for our 2nd spot where we played against our archrivals Mt Tamborine who we had lost to in the prior seasons' grand final. However, we backed ourselves and played our 2nd best game yet of the season with a 1-0 win.
We then faced Ormeau in the grand final and the girls were unreal, totally dominating the play and the match all together winning 4-0. They are a fantastic group of girls that will no doubt be a presence in the senior team in the near future.
They have impressed not only Daz and myself but others from the club with their growth and development. I look forward to what next season holds.

3 -2 Grand Final Winners v Murwillumbah
After finishing fourth, a strong final few weeks saw the team finish over top of their opposition in both the Semi Final (Musgrave 1-0) and Grand Final (Murwillumbah 3-2). We began strongly and dominated the opening 10-15 minutes before Murwillumbah scored a goal against the run of play. This could have had a dampening effect on the team however it only proved to strengthen their resolve, and although coming from behind (on two occasions), their desire, will and tenacity resulted in the well-deserved win. The team, showed tremendous character and powerful self-belief, and it came as no surprise to me that they achieved the desired result once this belief was realised.
I could not have been prouder of the squad, both individually and as a team, and am extremely happy for each and every one of them. I have never at any time during this year or the two previous years, doubted their ability, and it was only a matter of time before they realised it themselves.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one associated with this team, players, families and supporters, it's been one hell of ride and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I wish you all the best for your future. Cheers

U15 Division 1
The season the boys had was very up & down.
We are only a team of 12 lads. This was a feat to manage for the entire season.
After winning the first 4 games of the season we either lost or drew the next 7 games.
After a few positional changes we either won or drew the next 9 games to finish the season in 3rd position.
We beat the 2nd place team in the semis after a tense penalty shootout.
Now facing the undefeated team of Murwillumbah in the grand final, we went in with a positive & a do or die attitude.
We were unlucky to hit the post with a early shot and missed a few shots that could have gone either way.
Our keeper saved a very determined effort by their key striker & midfielder.
We finished up regular time at 0-0.
We finished up extra time 0-0
Went into penalty shootout & unfortunately went down 4-2.
Full credit to the lads. Hopefully we will all be back next year to have another crack.
Team:
Pheonix Morrison, Tyler Goddard, Myles Frazer, Johnny Aspin, Arthur Edwards, Riley Clark, heath walker, Levi Morrison, Noah Petschy, will burns, Phoenix Duffy, Jimmy Castle.

These lads came into the game knowing well what they were coming up against but stepped onto that pitch and gave it their all until the final whistle.
20 minutes into the game we suffered a game ending injury which put the boys into shock and despair.
Both teams grinded out the first half to head into half time 0-0 with all to play for. The boys showed nothing but passion and determination in those rooms eager to pinch the win.
Unfortunately conceding 5 minutes into the 2nd half set us up with a mountain to climb. Despite pulling a goal back shortly after to level the game once again, Murwillumbah managed to steal the game from the boys reach with 5 minutes to go.
Although it wasn’t the boys night they planned for, they can look back on an outstanding season and have changed phenomenally from the previous season. They will all be ready and raring to go again in 2023.

With the biggest match all year and the 4th time we played Pac Pines this season and a record of them winning two and us winning 1, Pac Pines went 2:0 up early in the first half.
The boys did extremely well to get a goal back and to not drop their heads! The second half was more of the same with both teams going back and forth until the last 5 minutes.
Pac Pines got themselves 3:1 up.
Our boys were a bit disappointed in losing (as everyone is) but they played extremely well and were the better side for 3/4 of the game.

Congratulations to the U/16 JPL, who not only won the League, but backed it up and won the 2022 Grand Final against Broadbeach United Soccer Club in amazing scenes last Friday night on Field 1.
Some who saw the game are adamant it was one of the best games played on that oval in many a year, with the unfolding of some extraordinary theatre all wrapped up in a soccer match. The last 30 minutes alone were riveting.
Palm Beach found themselves down 1-0, and with their goalie red carded in an extremely controversial decision as half-time approached.
Still down 1-0, with 10 players, and their 3rd string goalie well into the second half Broadbeach scored their second and Palm Beach were now down 2-0. In an eerie coincidence, it was the 3rd time this year Palm Beach had found themselves in that position against Broadbeach but on the two previous occasions had managed to fight back and win. However, this was different this time, with less than 10 minutes to go.
Then it happened, first one goal and then a second to Palm Beach, all in the space of 9 minutes. 2-2 and extra time of 10 minutes each way was looming.
For the first time in the match Palm Beach went ahead after scoring in the first 10 minutes of extra time and they sealed the win with a 4th goal in the second 10 minutes.
Palm Beach had won this Grand Final 4-2 in the most dramatic of circumstances being down 2-0 with 9 minutes to go, 10 men for the last 64 minutes of the game and having to employ two goalies from within the Palm Beach team who had earned the respect and admiration of everyone at the ground because they put their hand up to do the job - and do it they did.
An outstanding effort from a team of players who simply refused to lose, a coach without peer and supporters who believed.

The U18 White team entered the Grand Final against Burleigh having played them twice in the regular season. The boys were full of confidence having beaten them on both occasions 5- 0 and 4-0.
The focus all week leading into the game was don't be complacent, and concentrate on doing your job for the 90 minutes.
From the kickoff the lads looked comfortable and with the right mindset, to compete for every ball. In the 8th minute Flynn Charters our right winger took on his opponent and managed to whip a low cross into near post where the golden boot Toshi was able to slot the ball home. The 2nd goal came around the 20th minute after some nice lead up play, found Cameron Williams In space around 30 yards out, Cameron's low hard drive beat the goalkeeper at near post to establish a 2 nil lead. Looking in control and knocking the ball around well the next goal came in the 40th minute, when Xavier Hughes combined with Toshi in the box and was able to direct his shot from a very acute angle to beat the Burleigh keeper.
The boys were up 3 nil at half time, and the message was simple, 45 minutes to finish the job, don't take your foot of the gas yet.
Burleigh came at us after the break atleast applying some pressure on us with the ball, that didn't last long however with Cameron Williams again finding himself with ample time and space in the box to cooly finish into the bottom right corner to deny Burleigh any chance of a comeback. His goal celebration in front of the Palmy faithful will be remembered for years to come. The Palmy boys continued to create and in the 79th minute a great run deep by Jet Indriawan and some nice interchange of passing found Toshi in point blank range and his blast from close range made it 5 nil. Burleigh managed to get a consolation goal in the dying minutes after a questionable clearance from our keeper found the Burleigh strikers feet about 10 yards out.
The game finished 5-1 and the boys could finally celebrate after a special year, where they managed to achieve the Premiership and Grand Final double. The icing on the cake came when FQ South presented the team with the award of Junior Team of the Year. A remarkable achievement for the lads, who managed to score 104 goals and conceded only 10 goals. The boys were joined in the changerooms with supporters to sing the Palmy song one last time for the year, and they didn't dissapoint, smashing out a loud and proud version of the famous Palmy Song.
